Going Eco-Friendly
It’s never too late to become an eco-friendly and conscious Lash Tech. As you may be aware, lashing clients day to day creates a lot of waste from different products and disposable tools. While this process can be unfriendly to the environment, it also digs into your finances too as restocking on these disposable goods costs more in the long run. Becoming more environmentally friendly will not only save product and waste, it will also save you money on repurchasing a lot of items which you may have never known could be reusable. Let’s discuss some of the ways you can become a more eco-conscious Lash Artist.
Our Ethos
If you’re considering purchasing from an eco-friendly company in 2024, then look no further. At London Lash we have always put the environment first, making sure our products are carefully developed to minimise waste and to promote recycling as much as possible. You can read all about our journey to becoming eco-friendly in this blog post. So now that you know our commitment to the environment, you may be ready and wondering what you can do to become more environmentally friendly too, we’re here to give you some tips.
Your Journey
Of course, we understand it’s not always easy to switch from what you previously thought was the right way of doing things to something completely new and different. But having the option of purchasing recyclable items, reusable tools or biodegradable products which are otherwise single-use and destined for landfill is a great way to make changes which won’t feel like a completely new lashing process.
But, it’s also important to remember that purchasing products is not the only way you can help the environment or be an eco-conscious Lash Artist. Recycling packaging from your restocking is a really easy way to limit waste, which is why all of our products are packaged and dispatched in recyclable materials, including glass bottles, cardboard lash trays and of course metal tools (should you experience an accidental breakage of your Tweezers for example). That is all clear to see, but did you know that even the packets that our lash trays arrive in are made from plant fibres, ready for your compost bin?
In addition to this, you can use eco-friendly cleaning materials such as biodegradable surface wipes or environmentally friendly disinfectant sprays which are free from harsh chemicals. There are many things you can do to limit your waste and your impact on the environment, especially when it comes to taking care of your lash salon. Speaking of, if you’re at home after a long day of work and you’re getting ready to wash your Apron or Tunic, consider using the Eco setting on your washing machine – this too can be said if you use an autoclave to clean your tools, after all, it’s the little changes that make a difference.
Products to Consider
You know by now that a lot of our products have now been changed to be more eco-friendly as we’ve changed the packaging to be recyclable by using only cardboard or glass materials, but you may be wondering how you can make the change with products or tools which are disposable and build up waste over time?
Our Biodegradable Glue Nozzle Wipes are a perfect place to start – this product is versatile and doesn’t need to be used only to clean your Lash Glue. In fact, you can check out our blog which discusses hacks to maximise your lash kit by using biodegradable wipes for multi-uses such as cleaning your tweezers or Lash Palettes. Similarly, to save on product, you will notice in this blog our suggestion on using Micro Fibre Brushes to dip into your Protein Remover Pads so that you can prolong use and save product in the long run.
So what about your tools? Applying Pretreatment to a client’s eyelashes requires precise tools, but to avoid infections and for good practice, these tools must be disposed of after each client. To save on plastic materials and waste, we recommend using our Reusable Metal Handles which fit perfectly with the disposable Cleansing Brush or Mascara Wand Heads, here you’re only disposing of the tip of the product applicator, while the handle is infinitely reusable and perfectly durable when cleaning and storing between uses. This means that, compared to using completely disposable brushes for cleansing the lashes, you are generating 80% less waste. In the same collection, to save on buying bulky mascara wands with plenty of plastic, we have Metal Handles for Silicone Mascara Wands. While the wand is disposable, the silicone material is more eco-friendly than regular plastic, and with the reusable metal handles you can rest assured in the durable and precise use of your tools.
- TOP TIP: When it comes to certain items such as our Lash Glues, plastic waste is unavoidable as they come in squeezable plastic bottles. In this case, you’ll want to prolong the life of your eyelash adhesive for as long as possible. More use and less waste. To find out how to Get the Most Out of Your Glue, read this blog post next.
And there you have it. Make 2024 a year of change and positively impact your business, the environment and your client experience by showing them that you’re an environmentally conscious Lash Technician with an ethos of making change by using reliable products, recycling materials and safely cleaning your salon without causing any damage to the environment!
